Last updated 16/4/02 Web Site update: After almost a year the disciplinary regarding the guest book came to a conclusion last night.
The NWWRFL decided that a £200 fine, suspended for 12 months (pending good behaviour) was appropriate to which the club agreed. The matter is finally laid to rest and the guest book will not be returning HOWEVER if you would like to email your comments to the club then please feel free to do so.
So on with the show........We have played our last game of the season and are looking for friendly's to play in pre-season so clubs get in touch.
If your looking to play football in the Preston/Lancashire area for a team with good spirit (usually vodka) with an emphasis on enjoying the game (and winning at all costs of course) then email or call manager Dave (see contact page).
Thank you for visiting, you are lucky visitor.... erm we seem to have lost the counter!!
WE NEED A SPONSOR - we cater for all businesses for example National Westminster Bank will fit across Wendy's chest but Liz would only manage Egg! So coming soon is 'sponsor a player'!

Rising from the ashes!
The Phoenix was a fabled bird in Greek mythology and sacred in ancient Egypt .Only one existed at any time and it was always male, it had beautiful red and gold plumage and was fabled to live for 500 years. At the end of each life cycle, the phoenix burned itself on a funeral pyre. Another phoenix then rose from the ashes with renewed youth and beauty. The long life of the phoenix , and its dramatic rebirth from its own ashes, made it a symbol of immortality and resurrection.
And the teams history...... Phoenix has had many an alias over the years. I would like to think we evolved from Dick Kerr ladies, because they were real ladies and if you've read the book 'In a league of their own' you will know exactly what they ate on most away games and not alot about how it must of felt to walk out in front of 50,000+ people but nevermind I am side tracking. So yes somewhere some Dick Kerr Ladies DNA slipped into the blood stream of somebodies Mother who gave birth to someone who played for Phoenix. We are not sure who carried the gene but it is evident when you watch the mighty Phoenix in flight on a Sunday afternoon. Anyway it's not where you start it's where you finish, so think on! We did definately re-named ourselves Vernon-Carus or 'vernons', not after the pools but after the surgical dressing factory in Penwortham, Preston! I think at some point we were almost called Whitbreads and then Anderton Arms but I am not sure if these were both false promises after consuming copious amounts of alcohol on a Christmas do! We finally became Phoneix about 3 years ago when some little members club in a back street in Preston agreed to lay on chip butties and sausages after home games!! The club later re-named itself Stacies Bar and we fled as fast as our chip butty bellies would allow! So now we are sponsor-less and are quite fond of and proud our name and what it stands for :)
